Happy Canada Day!

The long weekend is upon us - Canada's birthday! Not too much planned except to relax. Much depends on the weather.
For the last two days in a row there have been fire alarms at the Grand Hotel. Also today, the two gay mounties made history by being the first two same-sex mounties to get married. This was at the Grand Hotel. Now I am wondering if there is any connection? Just kidding!

Some bad news for Digby. The Ferry service between Digby and Saint John is being cancelled at the end of October this year. What is happening to this part of the country? It is as if we do not matter to the powers that be. We used to have rail service, flights in and out of Yarmouth, year-round ferry service, and bus service on a regular basis. If this keeps up, the tumbleweeds will be blowing through this town! And people wonder why the population in this area is decreasing!

On a positive note, I heard about a remarkable guitar crafted by a Nova Scotian
named George Rizsanyi. The guitar, being held here by Colin James, is made up of 64 components of Canadian history and culture, including decking from the Bluenose II, and pieces of Paul Henderson's hockey stick in the mix. He learned alot Canada in the making of this guitar - called "the six string nation guitar". It will be played during Canada Day festivities in Ottawa by various performers, then will make its way back to Lunenburg for an August festival. It will play other festivals in between over the summer.
Have a GREAT weekend!

The two same sex Mounties got married in the Grand Hotel. Same sex Mounties getting married are not words I like seeing in the same sentence.
Which one wore the Wedding Dress?
I thought I had nothing against gays getting married. But, to make it so obvious! Wow, I am such a hypocrite!!!!!

They've taken away our planes, boats, buses, and trains- In a time when the world keeps getting smaller through technology, it seems we down here are becoming more and more isolated and forgotten-- hey, wasn't the train part of the whole Confederation deal?? Maybe we should separate and be part of Australia, they have much better transportation, health, and education systems- do you think they'd want us? Canada doesn't seem to???
