Annie's Song
I was just asked today to play guitar accompanyment at a wedding on Saturday - "Annie's Song" by John Denver. Listening to this tune and learning it reminded me of Denver's immense talent - yet another musician who left us too soon, dying in a plane crash. Why so many musicians leave us prematurely is a mystery to me. The likes of Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, John Lennon, Eddie Rabbitt, Elvis Presley - the list goes on!We had our second band practice last night with progress being made. "Up Around the Bend" by CCR and "Maggie May" by Rod Stewart were my favorites from last night's practice.

Can't wait to hear those songs-- loved John Denver-- was Annie's song the one with"You fill up my senses"--- I think someone once said "only the good die young". I always liked the Don MacLean song- Starry starry night-- and the line-"This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you" and Jim Croce--"Time in a Bottle"-- that makes me cry!!!
Yup - that's the one. Those are all great tunes!
Keith Whitley and Jim Croce are others who died too soon as well.
Whose wedding did you play at?
I don't even know the people yet - I play this "coming" saturday...the singer's guitar player bailed out, so I'm filling in.
And let's not forget jimi hendrix, janis joplin, mama cass, was james dean a singer?
Jimmy, I wish I could be there to hear you sing. You have such a nice voice..and I love those songs too. Unfortuneately we won't be going anywhere for a while...gotta buy a new tire...end of the month I guess.

Oh, by the way...you probably knew that Rod Stewart (whose voice I love) has done a CD of the old crooner songs. Well guess what? Your favorite singer, Michael Bolton has made a CD of Frank Sinatra songs! Yuck...he sounds awful! Gadzooks!

Nannan, I know what oyu mean about the Jim Croce song, that is one of my favorites by him, I also like I've got a name. The Don McClean song you mentioned is actually titled Vincent, it's a beautiful song, used to have it on Angie's computer.
