Tragedy struck today when a young 6 year old child perished in this fire in Pleasant Lake. The fire is currently under investigation. The call came in around 11:30 this morning (Jan. 6/07). We were on scene most of the afternoon. Nothing else to say - a sad day.
I always knew that cats are amazing animals, but something happened the other night that just reinforced my admiration for them. It happened during supper time, while I was eating. My white cat, named "Kayla", jumped down from her perch on the back of a nearby chair and started walking across the living room carpet. Nothing extraordinary about that - but it's not the end of the story. About halfway along her journey, she stopped, then upchucked her supper into a pile on the carpet. Oh jeesh, I thought, a messy clean up to attend to. But alas, much to my surprise, I looked over a mere minute later to see her eating that pile down to very end! "What a thoughtful cat", I mused - sure made my job easier. And oh yes, proof that cat food can be recycled. Bye for now.
