A Visitor Arrives on Our Front Lawn!

Yesterday, Sunday afternoon, we had a strange visitor arrive on our front lawn here at 7 Sprucewood Drive. My two friends and I are shown here tending to this large "Turtle" on our lawn. He turned out to be quite friendly and harmless, and it turns out he actually greatly prefers the cold weather. In fact I expect he will disappear as soon as warm weather arrives. In the meantime, he is welcome to make himself at home.

Jessica is shown here putting the finishing touches on our creation. Also on this day the three of us checked out a geocache I had hidden and also checked out the new outdoor skating rink down behind rudders. Overall it made for an interesting afternoon indeed.

Foreign Affairs!

By the title of this blog, you may think I'm having a fling with a lady from away. Not the case, although that may be a neet idea! What I have done though is apply for a passport, not that I have any immediate travel plans. But who knows when that could change, right? Anyhow, I was born in Luxembourge, overseas, so my docmentation is a bit different. Along with my birth certificate (which is completely in French), I needed to submit what's called a Certificate of Birth Abroad. It states on that certificate that I have been duly registered as Canadian citizen, so I do not anticipate any problems. Also, passport photos are required - and if you ever have one of those taken, do not crack the remotest smile or open your mouth a fraction of a millimetre. I had to have mine taken twice - they are very fussy. You also need a "Guarantor"- someone who will authenticate your identity - he or she must be a certified person for Passport Canada to accept. Above that, you need to have two references, such as co-worker or someone who has known you over two years preferably. Quite the procedure. If and when I get my passport, it will be a valuable document to be stored in my SDB. And they expire after 5 years - so I had best make use of it before then if I get it. Where to go?
